You wanted it, so here it is! The third season of the VRL GT3 LEAGUE is here and with many changes that we believe will make the season even more interesting and fun both for you drivers and for the fans. One thing doesn't change though, that at the end of the season, we will have only one champion!
Below you will find an overview of the rules and a description of the entire championship, and perhaps answers to most of your questions.
I want to participate in the third season of VRL GT3 LEAGUE. What do I have to do?
First of all, you have to be the owner of the Playstation 5 console and game Assetto Corsa Competizione (PS5 version). You must also log in to our VRL CZ/SK server
(VRL Discord) via the Discord communication program or mobile application and then register for the third season on the SimGrid platform and pay the entry fee.
(https://www.thesimgrid.com/hosts/virtual-racing-league) after that nothing prevents you from starting to prepare for the first race of the season.
Do I need to have purchased DLC for the game?
All drivers must have purchased DLC because DLC tracks are included in the third season calendar.
How many drivers can register for the third season? Is the capacity limited?
Yes, the capacity for the third season is limited to 30 drivers (+5 substitute drivers). If it‘s too late and all the places are already taken, you don't have to be sad, because our sim racing group VRL CZ/SK will prepare more races and championships for you during this season.
When do I have to register and what else do I have to do?
Registration will be closed on September 30, 2022. After successful registration for the third season on the SimGrid platform, you have to choose the car and livery for the whole season and report your choice to the admin team.
Will the third season have a qualification or how will the drivers be selected?
There will be NO qualification and it only depends on who registers first. Registration will be open first for members of our VRL CZ/SK discord server, and if the season capacity will be not full, it will be open to the public too.
I am not at all familiar with the SimGrid platform and registration is very complicated for me. Is there anyone who can help me?
Of course yes. If something is not clear to anyone or if you have a problem with registration, you can contact the members of our admin team, who will be happy to advise you on anything, not just registration.
How long will the races last and how many races does the third season have?
The season has thirteen races, which will be standard 60 minutes long except for three races where the time will be increased to 90 minutes.
Can I make my livery for my car?
Yes, a driver can participate in the third season with an official or own livery that he reported before the start of the season. It is forbidden to change livery during the season.
Can my friend and I create a team?
YES, even in the third season you have the option to create a team. There can be a maximum of two drivers on the team and you need to choose one of the cars that have the same livery that the game offers. The driver will not only earn points for himself but also for his team. The driver has the option to represent the team alone but will have a big disadvantage in the team category.
Can I use assistants (ideal track, stabilization) and use all views during the race?
Assists such as ideal track or stabilization will be blocked. The driver can only use TC (Traction Control) and ABS. Views are only allowed from the cockpit of the car (will be controlled by recording).
What do I have to do if I can't participate in the race? Can someone replace me?
The most important thing is to inform someone from the admin team at least eight hours before the race, otherwise, the absence will be considered unexcused (in case of two unexcused absences, the rider will be disqualified). A missing driver can only be replaced by a registered substitute who will represent his team. His earned points will not be allocated to the team of the rider who could not participate!
Has the penalty system changed?
Yes, this is one of the changes for the third season. Only incidents reported via the SimGrid platform within 24 hours after the race will be considered. Incidents will continue to be punished in the form of time penalties. The incident will be judged by a commissaire who is not participating in the race.
Please see the Protests and Incident resolution section below for detailed information.
Will the race be streamed?
Yes, if the stream and commentator will be arranged, every race will be streamed on our Virtual Racing League YouTube channel
What if I didn't know about a rule?
Ignorance of the rules will not be tolerated. All drivers are obliged to read and study the rules before the start of the season.
After registration, the season will start with the first race on the Silverstone circuit, which will starton October 2, 2022.
SEASON:
The season has thirteen races, which will be held every Sunday at 14-day intervals. The lobby will always restart at 19:00CET. The race day will consist of 20 min of training, 15 min of qualification, and 60min of the race (during the season the time will be increased to 90 min for three races).
Protests and Incident resolution :
Please report all protests through the SimGrid platform, if possible immediately after the race, but no later than 24 hours after the race, later protests will not be taken into account. The description of the incident and its video recording will be handed over to the commissioner. Together with the protest, the driver must provide a record of the incident (the driver is required to record the race).
All drivers should file protests in all cases where the rules are violated. We ask drivers to report incidents even if drivers can resolve the incident in their way. Our goal is to assess the incident and try to prevent it from occurring in the future and possibly even discuss it with the drivers with impunity. After assessment and evaluation of the incident record, all interested drivers will be informed by a member of the admin team and the result will be reflected in the scoring on Simgrid. Incidents will be penalized with a time penalty, according to the severity of the incident (5s, 15s, 30s). The commissioner may request a consultation with members of the admin team. In case of a non-standard and unforeseen situation, the commissioner may, after consultation with the admin team, grant an exceptional penalty (exclusion from the season, deduction of points, disqualification in the race, etc.)
