About the Real Life Kyalami 9 hour Event
The International GT Challenge (IGTC) Series Powered by Pirelli, is a GT3 and GT4 sportscar-based endurance series that has run at Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit since 2019, the prestigious Kyalami 9 Hour. The Series visits five continents throughout its 11 month duration. Kyalami is the second of five total races in the 2023 season and is run from the 23rd to 25th of February. The main event is set to be contested by over 20 top international and local GT3 teams , all battling for victory in the 9 hour endurance race. The Kyalami 9 Hour race, with the addition of the Kyalami 9 Hour MotorFest, is certainly evolving into one of the most diverse motoring-orientated festivals in South Africa.

About the Virtual Kyalami 9 hour event
2023 marks the first year the Official Virtual Kyalami 9 hour event will be open to International competitors. Up to 100 contestants can sign up to the division Qualifiers of which only the fastest 40 drivers will qualify into the main series of four 1-hour races.
Why Not a 9-Hour Race?
One significant difference in 2023 compared to previous years lies in the event duration. The ongoing electricity supply struggle in South Africa means that running one continuous 9 hour race is simply not viable. Drivers, admins and broadcast crews will inevitably be without electricity at some point during the race due to load shedding schedules. For the international drivers feel free to read up on the term “Load Shedding” for a better understanding of the situation. To facilitate participants who would be affected, we have opted to run four 60 minute races at carefully selected time intervals. Drivers will be afforded 2 “drop rounds”, meaning that only your 2 best results will count towards your overall standings.
Prizes
Being the ONLY Official Virtual Kyalami 9 Hour event gives us the absolute pleasure of being the only race able to give out tickets to the 2023 Kyalami 9 Hour held in Johannesburg South Africa on the 23rd to the 25th of February. The top 3 Finishers of the series will be granted HOSPITALITY LOUNGE access to the event including all refreshments, catering, hospitality, pit walks and more valued at R5,175 (EUR280)
