The Turn R305 wheel works with any driving simulator and has quickly gained popularity, often being called the best sim racing steering wheel!

OVERVIEW

The Sim Grid is proud to bring you a return of a solo driver series, the Best of British!

Best of British is a five round series where drivers will race at all 5 British tracks available in ACC; Oulton Park, Donington, Silverstone, Brands Hatch and Snetterton.

The series will run on Saturday evenings as the feature race of The Sim Grid Super Saturday! Three of the races are 90 minutes long, two of the races are 144 minutes (2.4h!) long. The 2.4h races will also see extra points available to the drivers as points are awarded halfway through the race.

REGISTRATION & QUALIFICATION PROCESS

Places in all the splits have now been allocated following the qualifying process.

If you wish to register as a Reserve, please select the Reserve class on the registration form.

After registering as a Reserve, please read the information in the Important Messages channel on Discord as well as the "Withdraw & Reserves" section below.

PIT STOPS

The 90 minute races will require 2 mandatory pit stops. These can be completed at any time during the race. Refuelling is required on both pit stops.

The 144 minute (2.4h) races will require 3 mandatory pit stops. These can be completed at any time during the race. Refuelling is required on all three pit stops.

STEWARDING

The top 2 splits of the series will have live race stewarding. More splits may receive live stewarding but this depends on steward availability.

All 6 splits will have post race stewarding.

BOP & POINTS SYSTEM

The series will use a success ballast BoP system. Drivers that finish in the Top 15 of a race will receive ballast for the next round. The ballast a driver has is based solely on the previous result, the ballast does not accumulate.

Higher positions will result in more ballast but also more points. P1 will receive 35kg and 70pts whereas P15 will receive 10kg but only 20pts.

P16 will receive 15pts, decreasing by 1pt for every position until P30 who receives 1pt. P31-35 receive 0pts.

The 2.4h Interval Points are awarded at 50% of the race result points (e.g. P1 is 35pts). In the case that 50% of points is a half point (e.g. half of 15 is 7.5) then the value is rounded up so P16 would receive 8pts at the interval.

RULES

CUSTOM LIVERIES

The use of custom liveries made outside of the game is permitted in this series but please bear in mind that they are not officially supported by the game developers and their use can induce significant lag for the user.

Races in Split 1 will be live streamed on YouTube and custom liveries can be shared in a dedicated channel on discord for the stream broadcaster to run.

Any politically charged or potentially offensive material on a custom livery will see that driver banned from the series.

To avoid the significant lag that custom liveries bring, we suggest that drivers run the livery but without the .png file. Do not run the liveries of other drivers under any circumstances. The files are shared for use of the broadcaster only.

WITHDRAW AND RESERVES

If a driver is unavailable to attend a round in the championship, then use the withdraw function. This is found by clicking on the `Races` tab, and then `Admin` on the round you need to withdraw from. There you will find the withdraw button. Drivers are permitted one withdrawal in this series. Missing a race without withdrawal will result in disqualification.

If a driver has withdrawn from a race, but wishes to attend the race after all, please contact a member of Event staff as the slot may have already been filled by a Reserve driver.

If you are a reserve driver, you can see if drivers have withdrawn from a round on the `Admin` tab for each round. If you see a driver has withdrawn and you wish to take their place, please contact an Event Admin.
