1.2 - Signing up to championships
1.2.1 - Independent drivers (i.e. those not driving as part of a team) will still need to register a team name on SimGrid to be able to join, however for your results to count towards the independent championship you will need to append “(i)” to the end of your team name, for example “Your Team Name (i)”, please see this clip for more information. Failure to do so will see you competing within the team championship. (how to create a team on simgrid)
1.2.2 - Teams will consist of no more than 4 drivers and all drivers must be on SimGrid in the same team (there will be no sister teams)
1.2.3 - Only 2 drivers in a team can score team points. The 2 scoring drivers must be nominated on SimGrid and these can not be changed once season has started
1.3 - Qualifying Procedures
1.3.1 - During the qualifying session you must not escape back to the pits, this is for emergencies only.
1.3.2 - It is the drivers responsibility to make sure they have enough space to complete a timed lap.
1.3.3 - All drivers leaving pits must give way to cars coming past the track
1.3.4 - Drivers on an out lap or an in lap must make every effort to avoid the racing line.
1.3.5 - DO NOT intentionally block anyone on a fast lap (this will be seen as a punishable offence by the stewards).
1.3.6 - DO NOT try to race anyone on a fast lap (again this will be seen as a punishable offence by the stewards).
1.3.7 - Give each other plenty of room, leave space and be respectful.
1.3.8 - Each driver should usually complete a minimum of three laps in the Official Qualifying session in the car to be raced in order to qualify for selection. A BVSR steward shall have the right to disqualify any driver whose qualifying times or driving are considered to be unsatisfactory.
1.4.1 - All race start times are estimated and may differ on the day
1.4.2 - All drivers must complete a minimum of 75% race completion to score points. Drivers who DNF will only score points if they complete 90% of the race distance
1.4.4 - THE START OF EVERY RACE WILL BE AN ORANGE ZONE IF AN INCIDENT IS CAUSED BY A DRIVER HERE THEY WILL BE SUBJECT TO A MORE SEVERE PENALTY (this only applies to race start)
1.4.5 - Race Start
There will be an allotted amount of time to grid up, if you miss this you may have to start from pitlane or may even not be able to race
Depending on the sim there will either be
1 - A full formation lap then grid up
or
2 - A half formation lap then rolling start
1.4.6 - Race End
All drivers MUST complete the cooldown lap at the end of the race where possible (this is Sim dependent). Do not ESC back to the pits, failure to comply may lead to a penalty being awarded
1.5 - Track Limits
1.5.1- Drivers must use the track at all times and may not leave the track without a justifiable reason. All cars must remain on the asphalt at all times and must not use the grass verges
1.5.2 - The white lines defining the track edges are considered to be part of the track. Competitors can drive their cars onto the white lines at the edge of the track without penalty
1.5.3 - A driver will be judged to have left the track if all four wheels of the car either go beyond the outer edge of any kerb or go beyond the white line where there is no kerb
Penalties for breaking the track limit rules:
Qualifying - Where it is shown that a driver has gained advantage on that particular lap, i.e. a faster lap time, then that lap time will be removed. This can be done as often as is required
Race - A rising scale of penalties will be applied according to the number of times a competitor is reported to have exceeded the track limits
1.5.4 - If you are off track you must wait for a gap to re-enter the track safely, giving way to traffic already on track. Get up to speed alongside the racing line and check for traffic before moving to the racing line if possible. If you see a car off track ahead, we would encourage you to allow room for the car to rejoin to avoid a potential incident if safe to do so – they may not have full control of their car on the grass or gravel. Whilst off track you must throttle off and not keep your foot in despite the circumstances, always think of others around you and not yourself
2.0 - Flags
2.0.1 - Blue Flags: If you get a blue flag you should let the faster car pass when safe to do so, failing to do so may result in a penalty
2.0.2 - Yellow Flags: Yellow flags must be respected at all times. If there is a crash or slow car ahead and there is not an absolute clear path you must slow down to avoid a further collision, up to and including completely stopping if required Cars behind are not allowed to benefit from the situation by overtaking if you are slowing for a yellow. These are reportable incidents and can be penalised. Once the game announces a yellow flag or a safety car then your pace must be reduced and no overtaking is permitted
3.0 - Driver Discipline
All drivers are answerable to the Clerk of The Course and the BVSR administrator with regards to their behaviour during a race meeting, both on and off the track. Time penalties, license endorsements, points deductions or even disqualifications can be applied in the event of a driver being judged to be in breach of the regulations
BVSR is officially a non-contact series, the close racing and competitive nature often lead to on-track contact. However, the championship organisers have strict rules against unnecessary collisions, with penalties enforced by a panel of stewards
Infringements can include, but are not exclusively limited to:
